Goodnight Baby
I have written before about how my new baby does not like to sleep during the day. He likes to nurse 2433 times and to be held, but that is about it. The swing, bouncer and mobiles keep him entertained for a bit but then he wants to fuss again. I was ready to try something new. That something new was SoundSleep for babies.
This is not your traditional lullaby music, this is a blend of digitally recorded sounds from the womb. It is a 60 minute CD that not only can help babies fall asleep faster but can help them sleep longer. Who doesn’t want that?
I was skeptical at first because there are a ton of books, CDs and DVDs on the market claiming to “help babies sleep” or “puts babies right to sleep”. So it tried it and I have to say, I am impressed.
I put it on in a dark room and put K down for his nap. He was asleep in minutes. I wanted to fall asleep! I have to admit, this is very calming music and it reminded me of what is playing at the spa when you get a massage.
Our next test is to see if it keeps our five year old son nicknamed “Rooster” in bed longer in the morning, I will just keep the CD on at night on replay.
I would buy this for a new mom or any mom with kids who have a problem falling asleep. It got my seal of approval and better yet, it also got my baby’s!
WIN IT!! I have one SoundSleep CD to give to one sleepless parent!
Just leave a comment by May 4th at midnight with your best tip on how to get a baby to sleep.

My best tip is to try a quiet dark or dimmed room that has no activity going on in it,also “white noises” like a fan can help with a small one.

My best tip is to take one hand and jiggle the baby’s stomach- the motion used to put my little one right out!

I can get a toddler to sleep, that is no problem, but I was horrible when my kids were babies, I nursed them to sleep for a year and a half. I don’t even remember how I weaned them from it…My sister is going to have a baby soon and this would be a great present for her. Thanks!! (She can give it back to me for my #3, maybe I’ll do better)

My first baby is due in July, so I don’t have any tips to offer on how to get baby to sleep, but I can see how digitally recorded sounds from the womb would be very comforting for a new baby. This CD sounds great.

Swaddling is the key! But this cd sounds like a great idea too. I’d love to try it with my one-month-old.

Take a nice warm bath and then rub your baby with bedtime lotion afterwards. Then rock them and give them a bottle. It works! Great giveaway, thanks.

My sister is due any day now and this would be just perfect for her. My kids love listening to music to fall asleep. It works everytime.

Massaging toes works wonders to put my baby to sleep.

My kids love listening to music to fall asleep. It worked for me when I was little and works for them.

Great give away… i usually start about 1 hour prior to bed time… winding them down.. give them a bath, maybe some soft music in hte backround, a massage. then lay them down and read to them, or make up a story.. they’re both just 6months old, so i think i can recite the constitution and they’d enjoy it..

Well, nursing and co-sleeping were the best solutions to help my daughter sleep when she was an infant. Now that she’s older, a regular bedtime routine seems to be the key. Dinner, bath, play, read book, turn out the lights and turn on the white noise, nurse and she goes right down to sleep without any protest.
I have a baby boy due in June, so only time will tell what will work for him. I’d love to win this CD as an aid.

The double-swaddle! And a routine.

I turn all the lights off and leave only the night light on. Cool down the house and swaddle her. Place classical music softly.

Soo far my best bet has been a warm relaxing bath, with sleepy time lotion / bodywash by Johnsons.

Walking with my niece up on my shoulder tends to help her sleep, but she’s a week old so I don’t know how this will pan out (definitely not being carried until she’s 8!)

Leaving a fan on has always helped me & my kids.

My best tip is to put something in the crib that smells like you! (That’s safe of course) They feel you are close! Thanks!

This would be wonderful if it works…I have officially been sleep deprived for almost 4 years and have yet to find a solution. Things that have help are keeping a strict, predictable routine…bath, baby massage, brush teeth, to bed. Also, I bought a “noise maker” which produces a number of different sounds from heart beats to white noise. That seems to help drown out the sounds of chirping birds and barking dogs that may wake a sensitive little one.
I would love to be entered in this giveaway.

My 5 year old still doesn’t even sleep through the night, so I don’t think I have any hope with the baby!! LOL!

Nursing my son to sleep is still the only surefire way to get him down. Thanks for the chance to win!

A nice warm bath then lavender nighttime lotion. Works wonders for helping Mom get to sleep, too. ;0) Thanks! meg.wilson@gmail.com

Running water can calm the baby down and get him to fall asleep.

I wish I had some good tips, but I’m still mostly nuring a 11 month old to sleep. I’m trying some of the tips that Elizabeth Pantly wrote in her book, The No Cry Sleep Solution, but I’m not consistant enough. I would love to try this CD.

Nursing worked the best, but some stuff other things helped every now and then. Like stroking my babies head/forehead and singing the same song every night. I am pregnant again and this cd sounds wonderful.

I’ve raised all my children, 4 girls. I, like the commenter above, nursed them all to sleep, EXCEPT number 3 … she wanted a Binky in her mouth, 2 in each hand and would sleep until she had used each one and then could not “find” them … she usually made it through until the morning feeding, if not, we slipped in her room … replaced all the Binkies - where they belonged and she was good to go, again! It was really neat to watch! I’m awaiting grandchildren, I hope before I’m sixty (in 2 years) - if I do not win the CD, please share where it can be purchased. My new baby gift to expectant moms. Thanks!

I have a preemie right now, so I guess my tip would be to have them early. We have a hard time getting her awake to feed! However I know this is time to be treasured, and we’ll prolly need that cd soon!

My best tip, six kids later is…
Routine.
7:30, start bathtime, lotion and singing, read a book, swaddling (if they are little) and then right to bed. It’s wonderful!
A dark room, a little bit of white noise, and I have no trouble with my year old baby.
My 16 week old is a little different but, she’s getting there quickly.
Routine is huge for all kids. Even my teenage kids are all in bed by 9pm, sometimes even sooner if they want to be. Years of teaching them the importance of sleep. On weekends I let them stay up until midnight, and most of them are in bed by 10ish. It’s wonderful!!
This CD would help with my best friend. I think she could use this with her son who is to be born in July.

For a young baby, my tip is also to nurse and cosleep. That way the baby sleeps, but, just as importantly, the mom does too! Beyond that, I do think it is important to develop a routine over time.
May 4th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
I would give a tip, but seeing as my baby’s sleep is nightmarish that would be a bit hypocritical!
I have found that the routine helps a bit, though, as well as quiet!
