Beautiful Baby Slings

Tuesday, June 30th, 2009

drg_brown_2

I have found with this new baby of mine, that he is not an easy sleeper. He is not one of those infants that you can put him down and he will just sleep. After 5-10 minutes in anything he cries. Vibrating seat? Boring. Swing? Okay for a while but then he is done. I wondered how I would ever get this baby to sleep and then I found pippalily slings.

Pippalily was started by a mom whose daughter always wanted to be worn. She couldn’t find the unique and stylish slings she wanted so she made them! These slings are pouches so they are easy to get baby in and out and there are no rings to adjust. Those rings confuse me anyway.
I love that this sling had a deeper “seat” for the baby. It makes me feel that my baby is more secure.
I wear my baby all the time at parties, to the park, it is easy for me to use, K loves it and I have my hands free for my other two kids.

The thing I love most about these slings is that all of the fabric and patterns are simply gorgeous. The silk brocade is fancy enough to wear to a wedding or any other event as well as to the playground. I have received so many compliments on my Chocolate Brown Dragon sling! I love the Morning Glory Coral sling too. I want them all!

Get one for your husband for Father’s Day! Pippalily makes great slings in a masculine camouflage print or a plain black cotton sling. Don’t know how to use a sling? Don’t worry they have instructional how-to videos online for you.
These are going to be my new gift to get for baby showers.

The Un-Diaper Bag

Monday, June 1st, 2009

kokopax, llc was founded in 2007 in Henderson, Nevada by Sarah Spoor. While taking care of her four young children, Sarah was introduced to the vintage lightweight carriers her parents had used to carry her. Sarah and her husband immediately recognized the amazing benefits of being able to carry their infants so easily and still take care of their other kids, cook, attend school activities and travel freely. Sarah thought if they could develop a lightweight carrier that was as simple as the old ones, using fashionable fabric, that it could be a great combination.
After the carriers came the other great accessories kokopax carries.

bubblestote
I have the Garden Style Tote Bag. It is a perfect sized bag that is the perfect un-diaper, diaper bag I have ever seen. The problem with many “we-are-cute-not-diaper-bag-looking-diaper-bags” is that while they are usually cute, they don’t function that well.
This tote is made from a nice thick canvas that you can tell is very durable. The handles are attractive with the silver rings and rests comfortably on your arm. The tote features an attachable mini-tote, three deep elastic pockets, one large zipper pocket, a convenient key fob and bottle/beverage compartment.
This tote is surprisingly light!

I love this tote for an un-diaper bag or for a trip to the beach, boat or a lunch out with the girls. This will last you until your baby is out of diapers- and beyond!

ERGObaby Carrier

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Since I have had baby K, I have tried lots of carriers and slings. some I liked, some- not so much. I had come across the ERGObaby carrier on the internet and it looked much different from other carriers on the market. Most of all, it looked very comfortable for me and my baby.

The ERGObaby carrier is made from 100% cotton canvas on the outside, padded with 100% cotton batting and lined with a 100% cotton poplin fabric. They also now offer organic fabric carriers.
I wanted a carrier that I or my husband could use and my husband preferred to carry the baby on his back. With the Ergo carrier yu cna carry baby on the front, back or you can use a hip hold!
The carrier is so lightweight it is an amazing alternative to heavy framed backpack carriers.
The padded hip belt is comfortable and even distributes the weight so no one part of your body holds all the weight and gets sore.

Your baby rides facing you in the front position in the Ergo, so that your baby is supported in a natural, seated position which does not put strain on the crotch or spine. The ERGObaby carrier has a sleeping hood so you can secure your baby’s head while he/she sleeps on your back.
The ERGObaby can carry newborns (with infant insert), babies, and toddlers (up to 40 lbs.) - so you only need one carrier for your child’s early years!

Another thing that sets this carrier apart from other carriers is that it has various accessories like the infant insert, sucking pads, extension belt, matching pouch/purse, and also a back pack that can be added on to the Ergo.

Since I have had the opportunity to try this carrier out I have been asked about it everywehre I go. I am now the ERGO’s biggest fan and try to convert other sling and carrier parents.
Also check out the ERGObaby doll carrier for a child who wants to carry their baby like their mom!
Perfect for a new mom, baby shower gift or for any parent of a little one!

Honeywear Slings

Sometimes companies just get it. They understand what parents need, and how to make something functional and do it right. Honeywear is one such company. This company “founded upon the nurturing of children and the environment, our two most important and precious resources.” They make a baby sling that is simple to use and elegant all at the same time.

Honeywear was started by 2 mothers (you know how I love to support mom owned businesses!) who wanted to create an easy to use and fully adjustable baby sling. The Baby Bee sling is one size fits all. Perfect for Moms, Dads and Grandparents! It adjusts easily with the pull cord system on the pouch with allows for different hold positions for your growing baby and toddler (up to 30 pounds). There is also a buckle on the shoulder strap that allows for easy transfer from parent to parent without disturbing a sleeping baby.

All of their slings are lined with organic cotton and they are always constructed from natural and sustainable materials. They are made locally in Asheville, North Carolina by seamstresses working for fair wages.

If you haven’t tried babywearing or you are pregnant, this is the sling for you. This allows you and your child to experience the benefits of babywearing and bonding. This sling can go with you from the grocery store to a upscale party.
I am in love with this sling and I know you will be too!

Rockin’ Baby Wearing

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

sli.jpg

When I had my twins, I didn’t have a baby sling, we had a baby Bjorn. It was great, in theory because I had two kids to carry so unless my husband was around, I wouldn’t just carry one baby around the house. I didn’t take my kids out until they were older for errands and things so the carriers were not really needed. Now that I am having just one baby this time around, I was so excited to try out the Rockin’ Baby Slings and Pouches.

The slings they carry come in a gorgeous array of colors and styles. They can be worn in five different positions depending on your preference or the baby’s development. They are all made of 100% cotton linen, cotton twill, cotton poplin, or cotton voile. They are soft and comfortable to wear. They are stylish and don’t let you look frumpy. Finally I had my arms free to pick up produce at the store or answer the phone around the house.

The Rockin’ baby pouches are perfect for a newborn. They come in two sizes and again can be worn with the baby in five different ways. Their pouches are completely reversible and adjust to four different sizes through the ease of zippers! They also have a ton of different fabric choices available.

Baby wearing is a positive experience for both the parent and child. These slings and pouches make it easy, safe and stylish to wear your baby wherever you go. These are the best on the market and, I know I have found my new go to baby gift!
Check back next month for your chance to win a Rockin’ baby pouch!

Soothe a Crying Baby

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

Did you know that babies cry? Oh, you did? Maybe you weren’t aware how much they can and do cry. Babies can cry for hours a day, heck even my kids still cry about something at least once a day and they are four! There are many times you will be able to soothe your baby, and there will plenty of times where you can’t. If your baby is clean, fed and changed, why is the baby still crying? It can be frustrating especially for new parents.
Here are some tips for trying to calm a baby:

Baby Carrier

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

carr.jpg

We had just one carrier for our kids when they were infants. I can say I used it maybe once, because it was uncomfortable to use but I would love to try some slings or maybe this baby carrier. The PortaMEe child carrier is both cool and functional. With baby facing you, it keeps your posture proper and relieves pressure from your shoulders and back.

It looks very easy to wear, and has multiple pockets for your wallet and baby’s diapers. The adjustable shoulder strap has comfort gel padding, a cell phone pocket and a clip for keys or a toy. It can fold up and pack neatly into a matching drawstring tote to store easily in a diaper bag or car. You can also add an insulated bottle holder and hooded cape both of which are sold separately.

They come in two different fabric colors, brown/pink and brown/blue. It is made for children 5 months to 3 years with a maximum weight of 35 pounds and for $199.00 I would want to use it for all three years to get my moneys worth!

Baby Carrier

I loved my baby carriers after I had kids, actually my husband E and I each had one so that we could each carry a baby and actually be able to do something!

These custom baby carriers from babyhawk.com are not only perfect for carrying your child in the front or back, but are adorable too. The best part of it is that you can pick your own fabric and coordinates.
There are many patterns to chose from, if you don’t want to custom order one. Some are perfect for the punker mom or cool dad.

They are more then just a common carrier!

The Snugli Comfort Vent Carrier

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

evenflo_snugli.jpgThe Snugli Comfort Vent is a soft carrier for babies ranging in weight from 7-26 lbs. It’s khaki in color lined with some black giving it a very casual, sporty look. It has padded shoulder straps that criss-cross on your back. It has a versatile flap-down front that can be adjusted for newborn facing Mom, or folded down to carry older baby facing away from Mom. It has a convenient front pocket for keys or pacifiers and has two snap air vents for those warmer days. All the straps buckle very easily for maximum comfort and safety. At $16.99 this is a great buy!

I’ve owned other Snugli-like carriers before because I have six children. However, the other two I owned were not as comfortable and not as easy to put on. This Snugli by Evenflo is very comfortable and is very easy to slide baby into and out of! I love the adjustable front flap and the front pocket. When I first bought it, I wore it for three hours at a picnic. I put my keys in the front pocket, along with a pacifier and I was ready to go. My baby was very comfortable facing forward and didn’t get over-heated on that warm day because of the mesh air vents. I feel like I got an excellent product for the price.

As a mother of six, I’m always looking for top products that are the most reasonably priced! This is one of them!

Baby Slings

New Native Baby Sling CarrierBaby slings are ideal for multi-tasking parents who want to carry their baby and keep that sense of closeness and bonding while keeping their hands free for other tasks. Slings are available in so many styles, colors, and funky prints that there is one for everyone. A few of the more popular brands are:

New Native Baby Carrier - Freedom for your hands. Safely bend over or twist with both hands free. The curved bottom keeps your baby in the sling. Versatile. Carry baby on your front, side or back. Toddlers fit snuggly on your hip. Use one or two for twins. For babies newborn through 35 lbs. Convenient. Its so simple you’re always ready for the next pick-me-up. Put baby in your car seat without taking her out of the sling. Perfect for breast-feeding. Will not confine clothing and you can nurse while doing other things with your hands. Bonding. Helps both mom and dad develop a close relationship with baby.

The Hotslings Pouch - Hotslings pouches are an innovative design that combine fashion with function. Just because you are a mom (or dad) now doesn’t mean you will be stuck with bears, bunnies, blue plaid and pink gingham. Nor will you be stuck with a front pack that only is good for your baby’s first few months while it pulls mercilessly on your upper back.

Karmababy Baby Sling - Not your ordinary baby pouch sling. Karmababy have playful prints that are hard to find elsewhere. Reversible slings come with a knock out print on one side and a soft twill solid on the other. Both sides have a spacious pocket for carrying keys, an extra diaper, whatever you want!
