3-in-1 Bassinet

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

I had the chance to review a great stroller from Baby Planet and I loved it as much as I loved the company. Baby Planet now has added something else to its resume besides great strollers, a bassinet. Not just any bassinet, the Eden is a convertible bassinet!
eden
Bassinets tend to be pricey and the baby grows out of it within a few short months, the Eden bassinet converts to a toddler seat for extended use, up to two years! This bassinet has clean sleek lines and is beautifully modern, it will look good with any decor. The “Easy Release” hand grips have an internal trigger to release the bed from its latched position, on the base, allowing you to move it around the house! I love this idea because then you do not need a Moses basket or another bassinet downstairs.
It has soothing, peaceful music and dual speed vibration to help your baby soothe himself to sleep. Below the bed is an easily accessible storage basket to keep essentials like burp cloths diapers and wipes.

The Eden also takes part in Baby Planet’s industry leading Recycling Program. When it has outlived its life, Baby Planet will take it back and disassemble the bassinet, so the parts can go to recycling centers and stay out of land fills. So eco-friendly!
I love that this bassinet is useful after your baby grows out of it and that the bassinet materials are machine washable, which anyone with a baby knows is so important.
Check out the Eden for your next baby shower!

Mutsy Grow Up Booster Seat

Tuesday, May 19th, 2009

logo1
Baby K hates his high chair. He is not one of those babies who will sit and play sitting in his high chair or is content to watch what is going on. He wants to get in, eat and get right out. I know that he will not be in his traditional high chair (which I hate anyway) for every long.

Enter the Mutsy Grow Up booster seat. You will never find a more stylish, modern booster seat. What makes the Grow Up different from traditional booster seats is the padded seat reducer so your child is super comfy. The flexible seat along with the base allows your baby to sit comfortably on a average grown-up chair. It has an easy to use harness to keep baby in the seat.
rgbgrow-up-mandarin-front

The Grow Up is so easy to clean- just wipe down with a damp cloth. A huge plus with me is that the botom of the seat did not scratch my chairs like others I have had in the past! I love that is comes in four bright colors: raspberry, apple, mandarin or aqua. This seat is suprisingly light too, easy to take on and off. Perfect for traveling to friends or relatives houses with or even bring it to your local restaurant.
This seat fits kids up to four years old!

This of this seat for a baby’s first birthday, shower or new mom gift!

The Mutsy collection is available at Goores for baby to teens. For Reviewing Baby Gear readers use code rbgmu for 10% off ANY Goores order!

Soothe Baby To Sleep

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

There are some baby gear items that I would have loved to have when I had my twins. We had the swings, the vibrating seats, the boppy and the activity seats, all of which the babies loved. Of course there are new things coming out all the time and I feel like my Mom when I say “Wow, we had nothing like that!”

The Fisher Price soothing motions glider is one of those baby items. The first thing I noticed about this glider was that is so plush. It looks so comfortable for a new born baby. It has two reclining positions for baby one for new babies and one for older babies. It glides in two ways - side-to-side or front-to-back, which is amazing. The other thing I love about this seat is that it seems to be designed for Mom as much as baby, it rotates 360 degrees so the baby can always face mom and it has handles so you can carry baby from room to room.

This chair also has music and over head toys to stimulate baby. The pad is also machine washable which is a huge plus, babies are always dribbling or drooling. It is for newborns up to 25 pounds, but I am not really sure a baby over 20 pounds would fit into this glider. It has great reviews on Amazon.com and it is priced at about $170.00. It is not a must-have if you already own a baby seat and/or swing because you probably would not use it for very long, but it seems like a great baby item to have on a “wish list”.

PopATot Review and Giveaway!

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

My baby is 8 months old and when we go visiting our family and friends we have to bring a flurry of things for my baby to do or sit in. We end up bringing a blanket for the floor, toys, something for him to sit in to eat, by the time we are ready to leave there is no room in the car for us! The PopATot by Kiddy Creations is one of those ” I wish I thought of that” inventions.

The PopATot is a PVC-free activity center supported by a folding steel tubing frame, much like a camp chair. Think of it as a stationary activity saucer. It measures 27″x27″x24″ and collapses into a shoulder bag that is VERY slim, 5 inches wide and 36 inches long! You can open it with one hand, then you place your 6 to 18 month old (up to 33lbs) in the center seat. You can attach toys to five loops on the top using standard plastic baby rings (a pack of rings comes with the PopATot!). There are even two sippy cup holders.
The floor of the PopATot is removable and machine washable and the top you will need to spot wash.

This was a delight to review. It is fun, easy to set up and close up, very compact to store and perfect for when we travel. I love the PopATot for family vacations, visiting, the beach, camping or for the backyard. We will use ours this Thanksgiving at my sister in law’s house.
It is regulary priced at $59.99 but if you purchase now through the end of the year, you pay only $49.99!

This is one of my new favorite baby gear must haves and I think it is perfect for new moms, baby shower gifts, outdoor lovers and anyone with a small child!
Expecting moms can register for the PopATot at myregistry.com.

WIN IT! One lucky reviewing Baby Gear reader will win a PopATot! To win this fatastic prize tell me why you need a PopATot or who in your life needs one and why.

Soothe a Crying Baby

Tuesday, October 30th, 2007

isabella102.jpg

Did you know that babies cry? Oh, you did? Maybe you weren’t aware how much they can and do cry. Babies can cry for hours a day, heck even my kids still cry about something at least once a day and they are four! There are many times you will be able to soothe your baby, and there will plenty of times where you can’t. If your baby is clean, fed and changed, why is the baby still crying? It can be frustrating especially for new parents.
Here are some tips for trying to calm a baby:

Bumbo Recall

Friday, October 26th, 2007

chair.jpg

Just yesterday I was thinking about what we would need for this new baby. Being that we have twins and we have saved everything except L’s clothes which were handed down to my sister and Aunt, we shouldn’t have to buy too much. Then I started thinking about all the baby stuff that has come out since we had our kids, crib aquariums with remotes, miracle blanket swaddlers and the bumbo seat were all things that I would like this time around. Now the very popular bumbo seat has been recalled.

One million of these seats sold at stores like Babies R Us, Target and Walmart are being recalled because of twenty eight reports of young children falling out of the seats.
“Consumers should contact Bumbo to obtain new warning label stickers and instructions for the recalled baby seats and should never use the infant seat on a table, countertop, chair or other elevated surface, the agency said.” They will resell this product when they properly package it along with new warning labels.

I think part of this problem is adults leaving their child unattended while placing this on a table or countertop. I can see why you may place the baby in the seat on a table to feed them, but why would you walk away from your baby? That really is the hazard, not the seat.

These chairs are for infants six weeks old to 12 months or 22lbs. You can get more information on this recall here.

Sit Up Securely

Friday, August 10th, 2007

bumb.jpg

When I first saw the Bumbo seats, I thought to myself “well, why do I want my baby to sit up in a chair before they can by themselves?”
As I saw them more and more, now I can understand the appeal.
They support infants from 9-22 lbs and seem very sturdy.

They come in what seems every color you can think of. There are imitaions of these seat but they are around the same price as a Bumbo, $39.99, so you might as well go with the original because I heard the others are not as sturdy.
tray1.jpg

Now they have trays for the Bumbo baby sitter which would be great for feeding baby. This seat seems great for travel or to leave at grandma’s house before they are old enough to sit in a highchair.

Do you have this seat and do you recommend it for new parents?

Jump for Joy

Friday, July 20th, 2007

jum.jpg
When we had the kids I received a hand me down jolly jumper or doorway jumper. It was just like I remember my younger cousins having.
As soon as my children were big enough and could hold their own head up, we put them in the jumper. They loved it, actually the sometimes even tired themselves out and I would find one or the other asleep in it!
This was great for vacation or going to someone’s house. It took up no room in the car and it was instant fun for the babies.
This was a great toy that I recommend for new moms.
The only problem with it, is that you need a large doorway. Even with our doorways I would always feel that they could smack their hand or fingers between the jumper and the doorway, and that did happen.

jump.jpg

After my kids were too old for it the jumper I saw this jumper in all of the stores. It is a stationary jumper that rotates 360 degrees. It is a bit safer but not as much fun. it has a ton of activities and toys on it, but it also costs quite a bit more then the doorway jumpers.

Bilibo Seat

Monday, July 9th, 2007

bil.jpg

I have to admit, I have no idea what this really is or what it really is for, but I am intrigued. It is the Bilibo seat made for kids 2-7 years. It is a seat, it spins, it floats, it is a rocker, you can hide things underneath it.
It is a multifunctional seat that has won many design awards. It comes in six colors but the yellow one is $2.00 cheaper then the other colors for some reason. there are terrific reviews from parents on the site as well, so the seat must be more then just something cool too look at.

Does anyone have this? I would love to hear from someone who has used this or bought one for their child.

Primo Viaggio Infant Car Seat

Friday, March 9th, 2007

primo viaggioDescription: Peg Perego’s Primo Viaggio car seat.

- Adjustable, latch-compatible base, works great for getting that perfect fit into the van/car.
- Side level indicator tells you when you’ve got the right angle.
- Thick padding for comfort and safety
- a five-point harness to keep the child in.
- Infant head insert to prevent head rolling.
- Belly pad to protect from chafing.
- Can be put right into Perego Stroller.
- Large adjustable canopy.
- Comes in different colors.

Review: I purchased this car-seat after shopping around for quite some time. All of the other car-seats simply didn’t meet my expectations on what I believed to be a safe and logistical car-seat. This car-seat works great with, and can fit in, all kinds of cars/vans. I was pleased with the sturdiness of the seat. It can be locked in firmly and feels very safe. It does not rock or move when turning, even sharply. (Not recommended! haha)

What I love most about this car-seat is the ability to fit it right into the stroller. This is so perfect for those trips around the mall. You can just unlatch the seat, pop it out, and put it right into the stroller, without waking the baby.

The carrying handle is nice and firm, it doesn’t shake or rattle, or feel like it’s coming off or breaking. I feel this is the safest and most portable car-seat out on the market. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants a safe and convenient car-seat for their child.

Criticism: Now if they could only lower the price! Ouch!
