Travel with baby

Friday, August 31st, 2007

latte_sage_206.jpg
Do you travel often with your small child? We did, and where is the baby going to sleep is the first question that comes to mind. Renting a crib from a hotel or service didn’t really appeal to me, lugging a pack n play was even less desirable.
I would have loved this foldable moses bed by lalapanzi beds. They come in two sizes, large for children up to 22 lbs and small for children up to 17lbs. They look so soft and comfortable, I wouldn’t mind sleeping in one.

This bed would be great for baby but only if you travel often, I cannot find the price on their web site now, but I know it was not an inexpensive purchase.

Baby Scrubs

newborn_scrubs.jpg
You don’t want your OBGYN thinking he is the only doctor in the house now do you? You need to outfit your newborn in these adorable baby scrubs by babyscrubs.com.
They come in pink or blue and on the paocket it has all the birth details you don’t want to forget (like a mom would?). It even comes with a permanent marker to fill out all your baby’s info.
They are made for babies up to 10 lbs but they sell scrubs for older kids also.
So cute! I am just waiting for one of my best friends who is a doctor to have a baby, because this is going to be a great gift!

Messy Eaters

high.gif

The worst part of feeding kids is the mess they leave. I am not just talking about all over their face and tray either. Have you ever looked on the floor below the highchair after a feeding? If you do not have a dog that likes scraps you are in trouble!

This new food catcher may be just what you need. It attaches to the bottom of the high chair to catch everything that is dropped or thrown. It is made of 100% ripstop nylon, a water resisitant, light-weight & durable material that is machine washable.
It comes in six different colors and patterns, something to match every highchair or kitchen.
At $19.99 it is cheaper then getting a dog!

Burpee Cloths

Tuesday, August 28th, 2007

Sheila at www.loveprints.net had sent me her Handy Burpee for review. The Handy Burpee is not a regular burp cloth, it is made with a pocket for your hand. This way you will have the burp cloth right under baby’s chin but no drool or spit up will get on your hand. This would be great for infants with acid reflux or are big droolers.
kaciewithdoggieburpcloth.jpg
It is longer then a regular burp cloth and made with very soft cotton flannel. She has a ton of patterns for boys, girls or gender neutral it will be hard to chose just one!

I love supporting Mom owned businesses and this burpee is a great idea!

Mommy Business Cards

Monday, August 27th, 2007

flower_power_blbr2.jpg

I wrote about “Mom Dating” months ago and how hard it was to make friends for me or my kids in this new town where we knew no one. I had to take the initiative and give a mom I hit it off with my number and email on the back of an old business card one day.
She never called.

Maybe if I had these professional mom cards she would have. From professional to cool these business cards are 2 sided so you can add any information you like. Your children’s names, ages, your email address, child’s allergies etc.
They run a little steep $50.00 for 100 cards, but they are a novelty.
Cute idea and I will get anything if it helps me make a mom date!

Safe Toys

snail.jpg

With all of these recalled toys, it really makes me wonder what has been in my children’s toys all along. Eighty percent of all toys are made in China, so it is pretty hard to avoid China made products, which may be my next step.
I am in love with these wooden toys from oompa.com, which are made in Europe. They have great wooden push or pull toys and have a terrific amount to chose from.
This alligator has won toy awards and is made from natural, chemical free rubber wood and finished with non-toxic and child friendly colors. Most important when looking for a toy for a small child which is inevitably going into their mouth.

Cutest Hats Around

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

It has been unseasonably cool here in NJ the last few days so it has got me thinking of fall weather. I LOVE these beanies from kangaroodle. These soft handmade hats are the cutest things I have seen. They are measure by head circumference and range from 0-6 months to 4+ years. They look very warm too.

They come as a beanie, with a rim or even with ear flaps. Could you think of anything more adorable for the cool days of fall?

Are you looking for a baby gift for a baby who has everything? Maybe you are looking for a unique christening gift or a push gift for mom? Maybe you are just looking for something for your preemie baby, either way, I have the site for you.

www.julianandco.com has little bracelets for your little one or for mom and dad. Because they couldn’t find a personalized bracelet for their premature baby that would fit him, they decided to make their own.
Handcrafted sterling silver id bracelet with charms, these bracelets secure with a lobster clasp and can be personalized with your child’s name. It is also perfect for a child with food allergies, they have a bracelet that says “peanut allergy” so nobody will forget when they are around your child.
They have bracelets or necklaces for moms and dads too. Handcrafted sterling silver square pendant is inscribed with child’s name choice of their signature baby feet or hand prints on the front and all the precious birth information on the back.

Purchase of any JULIAN & Co. Children’s ID bracelet comes with a lifetime of “up sizing” and polishing at no charge.

I think this is a great gift for baby or Mom.

Hair Clips That Stay Put

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

clip.jpg

I always write how much I love Etsy. Homemade crafts, supporting artists, some of whom are stay at home moms, what is not to love?
These hair clips made by a Etsy seller are no exception.

The 1.25 inch snap clip are each handstitched. She will work with you on custom colors if you prefer and are made for fine toddler or baby hair. Something that is hard to find, I know because my daughter had the finest hair for the first three years of life and all clips would slide right out.
She has a great variety to chose from too, I bet you can’t just pick one!
My favorite is the flower and the ladybug.

Poncho For Baby

Monday, August 20th, 2007

Here in New Jersey it has been a little cool the past few days. It reminds you to get ready for fall and all the clothes you have to buy for your kids! I love a poncho I bought for my daughter from the Gap last year. I am hoping it still fits her because he is adorable in it, but if she doesn’t, I found a new one for her.

Kangaroodles.com has ponchos in a variety of colors for baby and kids. They come in sizes 6 months to 4T. They are made of soft fleecy cotton and are very easy to get on and off because they have no armholes. They are fringed with pompoms and has a tassle on the hood. One word for these ponchos: adorable!

Easy Bibs

Friday, August 17th, 2007

bib.jpg
The Gap always has the cutest and softest things for baby. I remember finding out the sex of my twins and the next day, on my lunch hour going to the babygap and buying a million matching things for them. I thought I was pretty good about waiting 5 months until I bought anything!

The Gap also has bibs that velcro or snap on the side, not the back. That makes life just a little bit easier for Moms and Dads. Not only that but they are made with 100% cotton and are very soft as well as adorable.

Twilight Turtle

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

turt.jpg

When babies get to big and strong to have mobiles in their crib, parents might wonder what is next for a bed time routine.
What about a constellation show on the ceiling? Twilight Turtle projects three starry night constellations onto the ceiling of any room that can be seen in three different colors.

Within the star pattern are 8 actual constellations. Parents can sit with their children and identify these major constellations using the wonderfully illustrated Twilight Turtle Star Guide. It even has a battery saving option.

I love this idea for any child’s room.

Unsafe Bibs

Wednesday, August 15th, 2007

Vinyl bibs sold at Toys R Us and Babies R Us may be recalled. These bibs are testing three times higher for lead then allowed and include drawings of baseball bats, soccer balls, and “Winnie the Poo” characters. They cost less than $5 each and are sold under brand names such as “Especially for Baby” and “Koala Baby”.

Although there has been no formal recall annoncement of these bibs yet, I would discard these if you have any in your home, especially if they are ripped or torn.

I try and buy organic and all natural as much as possible for my family. Especially with all the recalls lately and all that you hear about plastics in our children’s toys, gear and cups.

I like to find natural bath products like this. Propoline Kids Natural Shower Gel is made from all natural gentle products and is hypoallergenic and environmentally friendly.

What are your favorite bath products for kids?
